Commanders will debut all-black uniforms this week vs. Cowboys

We’ve only seen one combination of the Washington Commanders’ new uniform set during the regular season, but that will change Sunday. The Commanders wore their white jersey with burgundy pants and helmets through the first three games.

On Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, the Commanders will don their all-black look on the road at Jerry’s World.

The black helmets feature side decals of each player’s jersey number. The team introduced the jersey numbers on helmets for the previous two seasons while using its temporary name, the Washington Football Team.

The new Commanders’ black helmets will also have the team’s “W” logo on the front of the helmet. Additionally, the helmets will feature a gold-designed decal of the Washington, D.C. flag.

The jerseys have a burgundy stitching of the D.C. flag with a gold background. The players’ nameplate is outlined with two lines, referencing the city’s flag.

Washington will be one of four teams that will introduce an alternate helmet in Week 4. The NFL released the league’s alternate helmet schedule on Wednesday.

The Cincinnati Bengals will wear their “White Bengal” helmet during Thursday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins. The New York Giants will wear their throwback “Giants” helmet, which they revealed in their Week 3 loss to the Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints will wear their black alternate helmet this week in London against the Minnesota Vikings.

Washington will also wear the all-black uniforms in Week 9 against the Vikings and Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons. Both games will be at FedEx Field.

The Commanders have yet to play in their burgundy jersey and white pants this regular season.
