Cleveland Browns signed an undrafted free agent that the rest of the NFL forgot to draft
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL Draft is now in the rearview mirror but that does not mean that teams are done adding talented rookies.

Undrafted free agents are all over the NFL and two even made the Cleveland Browns roster last season.

Now, it looks like the Browns may have found a hidden gem that the rest of the NFL missed out on by inking G Javion Cohen to an undrafted free agent deal. It was first reported by Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz that he was joining Cleveland.

The fact that the Browns were able to sign Cohen without spending a draft pick on him is good work by the front office. Cohen possessed a fifth to sixth-round grade from many draft experts. One of the most respected in the market is The Athletic’s Dane Brugler and he had that exact grade on Cohen.

“Overall, Cohen is a physical, square-cut blocker who can lock up targets when he stays centered, but he has trouble combating quick defenders on his edges. He projects as a backup with potential to be more.” - Dane Brugler, The Athletic

Cohen was graded out as a good athlete according to the Relative Athletic Score and only his agility was marked as poor in the pre-draft testing.

Cleveland did spend a third-round pick on G Zak Zinter out of Michigan, so making the team as a rookie may be a bit hard for Cohen. Still, getting a quality undrafted free agent to the practice squad to develop is not a bad thing.

Cohen started 25 games at Alabama before transferring to Miami for his senior season and starting 12 games there. Cohen did not allow his first sack until his senior season and that is quite impressive.

It will take a bit to find out but it appears that the Browns have grabbed a player that the rest of the NFL has missed out on.
