C.J. Stroud completed his first NFL pass to himself

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud completed his first NFL pass to an unlikely receiver on Sunday afternoon.

Himself.

Facing a second-and-six at his the Texans' own 42 yard-line, Stroud dropped back and attempted to throw a pass over the middle only to have it batted up in the air at the line of scrimmage. Instead of letting it fall to the ground, or worse, risking it be intercepted by a Baltimore Ravens defender, Stroud alertly caught the ball out of the air for no gain.

That technically goes in the books as a completion and reception for himself.

It is not a common thing in the NFL, but it is not entirely unheard of for a quarterback to have that happen. It is also not the first time it has happened for a quarterback on their first NFL completion. Brett Favre started his Hall of Fame career by doing the same thing.

We have no idea what sort of career Stroud is destined for at this point, but the Texans are certainly hoping that he can fix their hole at quarterback.

The Texans selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
