Christian Watson signs rookie deal with Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers had signed every single one of their new rookies except for their second-round draft pick, receiver Christian Watson. That changed Wednesday. Green Bay and Watson agreed to a four-year deal that will lock in the former North Dakota State star for the future in Titletown. Green Bay traded up to select Watson at pick No. 34 in April's NFL Draft.

Watson will look to become head coach Matt LaFleur's new gadget player. This means that he will be an explosive offensive weapon who can provide quarterback Aaron Rodgers with a deep threat, a jet-motion option and an overall speedster. The Florida native also had experience returning kicks for the Bison in college. He returned two kicks back for touchdowns in his collegiate career. He also produced more than 100 rushing yards in his last three seasons at North Dakota State. He is incredibly versatile, which is something the Green Bay Packers covet every single offseason in the draft. Watson is arguably the most unique offensive prospect the Packers have ever drafted. He stands at 6-foot-4 and also runs a 4.36 40-yard dash at the combine. He is going to be a massive threat for any opposing defense whenever he touches the ball.

Looking at 2022, the Green Bay Packers are going to attempt to replace the production left behind by All-Pro receiver Davante Adams and speedy deep threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Veteran receivers Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard are back for another season in Green Bay. The team signed veteran Sammy Watkins to a one-year deal earlier this offseason. Fellow rookies in Nevada's Romeo Doubs and Nebraska's Samori Toure were drafted in April, along with Watson. The team will also be looking for an improved season from second-year receiver Amari Rodgers. LaFleur will have plenty of opportunities to find production with this group of receivers on offense.
