Chiefs' 2024 NFL offseason workout schedule officially revealed, now including rookie minicamp
USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially started the offseason workout program as they begin their quest for a three-peat.

The NFL has officially announced full offseason workout schedules for each team, starting from Day 1 through the team's mandatory minicamp. The Chiefs have also now confirmed their rookie minicamp date. A friend of the site, Arrowhead Pride's Pete Sweeney, reports that K.C. will hold their rookie minicamp from Saturday, May 4 through Monday, May 6.

Check out the schedule for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs down below:

  • First Day: April 15.
  • Rookie Minicamp: May 4-6
  • Organized Team Activities Group 1: May 20-22.
  • Organized Team Activities Group 2: May 28-May 30.
  • Organized Team Activities Group 3: June 4-7.
  • Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13.

The Chiefs will hold their rookie minicamp the first possible weekend following the 2024 NFL draft in Detroit. They'll get an early start on offseason work before a nice two-week break ahead of the start of OTAs.

There are three phases of the voluntary workout program. Here are the descriptions of each phase per the NFL’s press release:

Phase One:

Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.

Phase Two:

Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as “perfect play drills,” and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.

Phase Three:

Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or “OTAs”. No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.

Keep in mind that the entire offseason workout program is voluntary except for the team's mandatory minicamp in early June. Rookie minicamp is also mandatory, but only for college players entering the NFL.

The Chiefs have confirmed they're conducting Phase I of the offseason program remotely, with virtual meetings taking place. Patrick Mahomes is currently hosting several offensive players in Texas for workouts and throwing sessions. As Andy Reid often indicates, this juncture of the offseason program is much easier for offensive players than it is for players on the defensive side of the ball.
