Chicago Bears, QB Trevor Siemian agree to two-year contract

Despite visiting with the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday , quarterback Trevor Siemian has apparently decided to stay in the NFC.

Siemian spent the first five years of his NFL career from 2015 to 2019 in the AFC with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, but was then signed and waived numerous times by the New Orleans Saints at the end of 2020 and throughout 2021. With Drew Brees retired and Jameis Winston going down with a season-ending injury, Siemian competed with hybrid quarterback Taysom Hill for the starting gig and played in six games (including four starts), going 0-4 with 1,154 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.

Siemian is expected to battle for the Bears' backup quarterback job with veteran signal-caller Nick Foles. Last year's 11th overall pick, Justin Fields, is slated to be Chicago's starter.

A seventh-round selection of the Broncos in 2015, Siemian has posted a career 58.9% completion percentage for 6,843 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
