Chicago Bears Absolutely Blasted by Analyst, 2024 Playoff Chances Trashed
Mike Dinovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears and their fans have every reason in the world to feel optimistic about the positive direction of their team.

Not only do they have a young, talented nucleus and the recent addition of veteran talent like Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, and Ryan Bates (among others) via trade and free agency, but they also have two first-round picks in this upcoming draft– one, the overall no. 1 pick.

That particular no. 1 gem will give them the opportunity to draft USC’s blue-chip quarterback prospect Caleb Williams, who many experts are calling a generational talent and a possible franchise-altering presence. Heck, the young man is already drawing comparisons to legends such as Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

How could you NOT be charged with positivity as a Bears person?

But then, as is always the case, someone has to come along and dump some freezing cold water on your head, totally ruining your vibe.

Chicago Bears Face Cold Reality?

In this particular case, that “someone” is Joy Taylor of Speak on Fox Sports One.

Taylor recently took a swipe at the thought that Caleb Williams will be coming along and instantly make the Bears a playoff team.

“So which team in the NFC is going to fall off so much that it’s going to provide an opportunity for Caleb Williams to come in and win four more games as a rookie in a very tough division?” Taylor asked rhetorically.

“Did all of these other teams walk off the face of the planet? Do they exist?”

“What we think of this division is not real, it is a very tough division.”

“The Packers beat the Cowboys down on the road in the playoffs, the Lions went to the NFC championship game,” she would add. “These teams have momentum, they have experience, they have postseason wins. They have quarterbacks they have returning. They got better. They’re in their (the Bears’) division.

“So it’s not about what I think Caleb Williams is capable of doing. It’s about the fact that I just can’t seem to forget that other teams are actually good and that they are in the division and that they recently accomplished great things.”

Well, that certainly is a bucket of freezing cold water.

But what came next from Taylor was cruel to the point of being “kicking a man when he’s down” cruel.

No Winning Culture in Chicago?

“And I just can’t dismiss what everyone else has been building to accommodate for one player that’s going to a team that has no culture, that has no history of winning as of late, whose coach we do not know is a good head coach, to all of these new additions — new additions by the way are all on paper, have not all played together,” she blasted.

Oddsmakers tend to agree with Taylor, predicting that the Bears will notch just 8.5 wins this coming season, just one or two victories over last season’s 7-10 record– even with Chicago’s new additions and Mr. Everything Caleb Williams leading the way as the team’s starting quarterback.

But, thankfully, they play the games on the field and not on paper. Things can change in a heartbeat in the NFL and the Bears are looking to force some instant change. We shall see.
