Buffalo Bills rule out offensive weapon
Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

On Friday morning, Buffalo Bills head Sean McDermott announced several key players would be ruled out against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round.

The Bills will be without one of their top offensive weapons when they face a dangerous Chiefs team on Sunday in a week where their top wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, suffered a foot injury.

The Chiefs will head to Buffalo Mahomes’ first road playoff game. Mahomes will play his first game in Buffalo with fans in attendance. But the crowd won’t see wide receiver Gave Davis stretch the Chiefs’ defense this weekend.

The Buffalo Bills rule out a wide receiver

According to Alaina Getzenberg with ESPN, McDermott told WGR 550 that Davis would be out this weekend due to his sprained PCL injury. The Bills also ruled out safety Taylor Rapp, cornerback Christian Benford, and linebacker Baylor Spector against the Chiefs.

The Bills have a surprise on the injury report Thursday

Davis was the Bills’ second-leading receiver in the regular season, with 45 receptions for 746 yards and seven touchdowns. Davis’ absence against the Chiefs is concerning after a surprise report came out on the health of Diggs.

According to Cameron Wolfe with the NFL Network, Diggs will be a limited participant in practice Friday due to a foot injury that was announced initially on the Bills’ injury report Thursday.

Diggs suffered the foot injury during the Bills win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. For whatever reason, the Bills did not include Diggs’ injury on their injury report Wednesday. Still, they waited until Thursday to disclose the injury after the star wide receiver did not participate in practice.

The Bills need their running game to help Allen on Sunday

The Bills expect Diggs to play. But it’s clear he’s not 100 percent for the Chiefs game. The Bills wide receiver corps will not be at their full strength for quarterback Josh Allen against the Chiefs. The Bills must rely more on their running backs in the Divisional Round.
