Bryce Young loses his cool on sidelines amid latest bad game
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. Morgan Tencza-USA TODAY Sports

Bryce Young’s frustration boiled over Sunday as his rough rookie season continued against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Young lost his cool on the sideline during the second quarter of Sunday’s game following a three-and-out that included a sack. The rookie quarterback was screaming at himself on the sideline, and also threw a tablet in frustration.

While Young has largely handled a difficult season gracefully, it’s hard to blame him for his frustration. The Panthers were shut out through three quarters against Jacksonville on Sunday, and appeared well on their way to falling to 2-14 on the season. The quarterback has struggled for much of the season, and has received little help from a terrible offensive line that has been unable to protect him.

Young’s case has not been helped by the fact that No. 2 overall pick C.J. Stroud has outperformed him amid rumors that some with the Panthers preferred the other option. Entering Sunday, Young had just 11 passing touchdowns on the season with a completion rate below 60 percent.
