Browns DE Myles Garrett doesn't believe he's had a 'gold jacket career'

Browns DE Myles Garrett has continuously made his case for Defensive Player of the Year. But has he made his case for the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

The six-year veteran doesn't think he has.

"That is definitely the route I think I'm headed if I can continue the pace that I'm on," Garrett told reporters. "I definitely don't have a gold jacket career at the moment."

Garrett has 72 career sacks, which ranks 95th all-time. He has posted five-straight double-digit sack seasons and has been elected to four-straight Pro Bowls.

Garrett has put together a great career thus far, but he may be right in that he still has a ways to go.

"If I continue what I'm doing and pick up the pace ... I think that could be in my future," Garrett added. "But I have a long way to go."

He has yet to win the Defensive Player of the Year honor. And although he may have a chance at the award in 2022, 49ers DE Nick Bosa and Cowboys LB Micah Parsons seem to be the favorites with the season nearing an end.

Garrett has also only played in two postseason games. His lack of playoff experience could hurt his case for Canton for now.

The 26-year-old is still early in his NFL career and is certainly on pace for a gold jacket by the end. Another thing that always helps is a ring, but Garrett will most likely have to wait until 2023 for another shot at one of those.
