Brian Flores: Job with Steelers happened quickly

After a tumultuous few weeks, former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores was hired as the Pittsburgh Steelers' new senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach on Saturday.

Flores recently talked with Bryant Gumbel on HBO's "Real Sports" about his firing from the Dolphins at the end of the 2021 season, his lawsuit against the team — as well as the New York Giants, Denver Broncos and the NFL — and the drama that's surrounded him in February. He also discussed on the episode (which airs Tuesday night) how the gig with Pittsburgh came together.

Prior to his departure from Miami, the 40-year-old coach compiled a 24-25 record in three seasons at the helm. Before joining the Dolphins in 2019, Flores held various coaching positions with the New England Patriots from 2004 to 2018.

Mike Tomlin has been the Steelers' head coach since 2006, leading them to two Super Bowl appearances, including a title win in 2008. Prior to the Texans' hiring of Lovie Smith as their head coach earlier this month, Tomlin was briefly the only Black head coach in the NFL.
