The Jacksonville Jaguars have designated their starting left tackle, Cam Robinson, for return from injured reserve. Robinson has a 21-day practice window before he can be elevated to the active roster. He will miss the remainder of the 2023 season if Jacksonville chooses not to activate him or if he doesn’t practice in that 21-day window.
Cam Robinson has been limited to seven games due to a suspension and a knee injury. Robinson was suspended for the first four games of the season because he violated the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
He returned to the lineup in Week 5 and started until Week 12 when he suffered a knee injury and was placed on injured reserve.
Walker Little started at left tackle in 7 of the 8 games that Robinson missed.
Robinson returned to the lineup and Little moved to left guard in Week 5, but Little suffered a knee injury and missed Weeks 6-8.
Little returned to action in Week 10 and played at left guard until Week 12. Little moved back to left tackle when Robinson went down with an injury.
Little suffered a hamstring injury in Week 13 and missed Week 14. He returned to the lineup and started in Weeks 15 and 16.
It’s unclear whether Walker Little, Tyler Shatley, or Ezra Cleveland will start at left guard when Robinson returns to the lineup.
Head coach Doug Pederson is hopeful that he will return this week:
“It’s still a ways away, but [I’m] hopeful and optimistic that he’ll be ready to go. Cam brings a level of physicality and he brings some excitement and enthusiasm to that o-line. It’s something that we’re looking forward to.”
Cam Robinson returning to the lineup positively impacts the Jaguars’ offensive line because they have a winning record with him in the lineup and have a losing record when he’s not playing. Jacksonville is 6-1 when Robinson is starting and is 2-6 when he’s out.
Another reason why this move positively impacts the team is because he is arguably their best offensive lineman. Robinson allowed ten pressures, and the other offensive lineman has allowed 144 total pressures per PFF.
Finally, Robinson allowed 11 blown blocks, and the other linemen allowed 160 per SIS.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are 1st in the AFC South with an 8-7 record and are 4th in the AFC Playoff Picture. They can clinch the AFC South if they win out.
They play at home against the Carolina Panthers and on the road against the Tennessee Titans.
Getting Cam Robinson back in the lineup helps their chances.
