Bills OLB Von Miller expected 'creature' Josh Allen to be teammate years ago

Buffalo outside linebacker Von Miller, who signed with the Bills in the offseason, expected to be a teammate of QB Josh Allen years ago ... in Denver.

"I thought he was going to be a Denver Bronco," Miller told Bleacher Report. "Josh Allen came (to Buffalo) and became a creature."

Since 2018, Allen has become the QB monster the Broncos have desperately needed since Peyton Manning retired in 2016. According to OddsChecker, Allen is the favorite to win MVP this season.

Why Denver didn't draft Allen in 2018 is perplexing. Denver had the No. 5 pick and was desperate for a successor to Manning, a Hall of Famer. Allen had starred at Wyoming and has a strong arm reminiscent of ex-Broncos star John Elway's. Elway was the Broncos' general manager from 2011-2020.

Allen intrigued Elway enough for them to have a meeting before the draft. Ultimately, he passed on Allen, who was snapped up by the Bills with the No. 7 pick. Allen's low completion percentage (56.3) during his senior season at Wyoming may have scared Elway away.

With the No. 5 pick, Elway selected outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, who has been injury prone, missing 24 games in five seasons. Over the past five seasons, the Broncos have had a revolving door at QB, with nine different starters. They hope their latest, Russell Wilson, has solidified the position.

But what if the Broncos had picked Allen in 2018? Perhaps this magic would have happened in Denver.
