Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning got some sweet revenge Saturday against his former team.

The Bengals overcame a 17-3 second-half deficit to beat the Minnesota Vikings 27-24 in overtime at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Browning set up kicker Evan McPherson’s game-winning field goal with a nasty 44-yard pass to wide receiver Tyler Boyd with just over five minutes remaining in OT. The Bengals were facing third-and-9 from near midfield when Browning threw the pigskin through the tiniest of windows to find Boyd.

After McPherson’s kick went through the uprights, Browning couldn’t help but talk some trash against the Vikings – the team that cut him in 2021.

“You never should have cut me,” said Browning to a camera on the sidelines.

Browning admitted during his postgame presser that he was extra motivated to beat Minnesota. The 27-year-old QB told the story of how the Vikings cut him in what he deemed the worst way possible two seasons ago.

According to Browning, the Vikings made him think he was going to get a spot on their practice squad but instead cut him hours later.

Browning added that the roster and coaching staff has mostly changed since he was last with the team. But it never hurts to find additional reasons to fire yourself up on the field.

Browning went 29/42 for 324 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Browning is now 2-0 in overtime games this season. He’s thrown for over 300 yards in both contests.
