Bears Part Ways with Backup QB Trevor Siemian
Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The Northwestern product's stint with the Bears comes to an end after just one year.

The Chicago Bears have made a wave of moves in NFL free agency since the tampering period opened on Monday. Upon signing defensive tackle Andrew Billings on Thursday, the team released backup quarterback Trevor Siemian.

The Northwestern alum signed a two-year, $4 million deal with Chicago in March of 2022. Serving as depth in the QB room, Siemien only appeared in two games for the Bears.

In those contests, he completed 15 of 26 passes (57.7%) for 184 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and a QB Rating of 76.4. Siemien started one game, the Bears' Week 12 matchup with the New York Jets, in place of an injured Justin Fields.

After the Bears signed former Carolina Panthers backup PJ Walker on Wednesday, it was only a matter of time before they moved on from Siemien.
