Bears DT Eddie Goldman activated from reserve/COVID-19 list

Chicago Bears starting defensive tackle Eddie Goldman was one of the many NFL players who opted out of the 2020 season because of concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Chicago defensive coordinator Sean Desai told reporters in February he believed Goldman would return for the upcoming campaign.

Goldman did not attend the club's June mandatory minicamp, however, but he reported for training camp in late July before he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Aug. 3.

Per Kevin Patra of the league's website, the Bears activated the 27-year-old off that list Friday. In a corresponding roster move, Chicago parted ways with wide receiver Thomas Ives.

Goldman put pen to paper on a four-year extension that could be worth roughly $42 million with $25 million in guarantees back in September 2018. Since joining the Bears via the 2015 NFL Draft, he's recorded 153 total tackles, 12.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

According to Alex Shapiro of NBC Sports Chicago, Bears head coach Matt Nagy said earlier this week he didn't "have any stress" about Goldman landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
