Bears’ Cole Kmet claims the NFL ‘is unfair’ while talking about Bears potentially trading Justin Fields and drafting Caleb Williams
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

It seems the trade talk of Justin Fields is becoming a reality now for the Chicago Bears and the teammates of the QB are not happy with it. The Bears did not have a great season in the 2023-24 season as they finished last in the NFC North Division.

The team managed to win only seven games with 10 losses. Fields had an average time on the gridiron. In addition, the quarterback also suffered some injuries that created some roadblocks for him to generate success in favor of his team.

With all these, the name of the quarterback Caleb Williams started popping up in the discussion. The college football star won the Heisman trophy in 2022, but his recent season was not up to the mark. Nevertheless, the Bears are showing high interest in the player and the decision can lead to a possible trade of Justin Fields.

Fields’ teammates do not approve of the decision at all. Tight End Cole Kmet believed that Fields was and would be an important player for the growth of the team. Hence, he expressed his disregard for the possible trade option.

The NFL is unfair. That's just what it is. If they find a better, cheaper option at any position, they're gonna do that. That's what they gotta evaluate, if whoever they're gonna take at No. 1 is better. That's what this business is. -- I really don't give my preference on things. I know that they are going to make decisions that they feel are best one way or the other. Obviously, I have a good rapport with Justin over the past couple of years, and I've seen my game continue to elevate with him at quarterback. But at the end of the day, they are going to make decisions that lead to winning, and unfortunately, we haven't done enough of that over the past couple of seasons. Kmet told NBC Sports Chicago

Justin Fields has received support from a lot of Bears players

Kmet is not the lone person who has stood for his quarterback. Fields has been enjoying continuous support from other players as well. D.J. Moore and T.J. Edwards have also extended support in favor of the quarterback. Moore, throughout his 2023-24 season, defended Fields. When the trade talk caught more voice, the WR indirectly gave support for the quarterback.

I don't get paid enough to have that conversation. I think everybody knows where I stand, So let's see what happens. Moore told NBC Sports Chicago last week at Super Bowl 58 Radio Row

In the last game of 2023, the Bears fans chanted his name. But he is unsure of the reality that is waiting for him. He does not know whether he will be staying on the team.
