Adrian Peterson arrested for alleged domestic violence aboard airplane

Veteran NFL running back Adrian Peterson was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday morning in connection to domestic violence allegations, ESPN reported.

According to a statement from the airport police, officials received calls about a domestic violence dispute occurring onboard an aircraft departing for Houston and responded on the scene to "a verbal and physical altercation between a male suspect and a female victim."

A representative for Peterson and his wife, Ashley, said the two got into a verbal altercation and that Ashley Peterson does not plan to press charges against her husband.

"This is a private misunderstanding between husband and wife and we anticipate it will all be resolved shortly," the Petersons' representative said.

Peterson, 36, was booked at the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division and released on a $50,000 bail bond that afternoon. He has a court date scheduled for June 16.

His wife and other passengers made the scheduled flight to Houston.

This isn't the free-agent running back's first run-in with the law. In 2014, Peterson was charged with felony child abuse for using a switch to spank his four-year-old son which left him with cuts and bruises. He pled no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge and served two years of probation while also being suspended by the NFL for one year.

Peterson is unsigned to a team after finishing the 2021 season on injured reserve for the Seattle Seahawks. He played just one game for Seattle after being signed to their practice squad in December, logging 11 rushes for 16 yards and one touchdown.
