49ers offense breaks a franchise scoring record vs. Cardinals
Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers dominated the Arizona Cardinals 35-16 to improve to 4-0 on the season, earning a strong offensive effort from quarterback Brock Purdy, who threw just one incompletion, and running back Christian McCaffrey, who had four touchdowns on the day.

In the effort, the 49ers were able to break yet another franchise record, as the team scored at least 30 points for the fourth consecutive game, marking the first time in franchise history that they've reached the mark in each of their first four games.

In their history, San Francisco has fielded some elite offensive attacks, highlighted by quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young, but the Brock Purdy-led 49ers are the first to accomplish the impressive feat.

The franchise record only highlights how impressive the 49ers offense has been to start the season, which was only furthered on Sunday, where San Francisco put up a season-high 35 points, scoring touchdowns on five of their six offensive drives.

Looking across the board, San Francisco has seen efficient quarterback play from Brock Purdy, who has yet to throw an interception through four games, while Christian McCaffrey has arguably been the most valuable player in the NFL with another strong game overall.

The 49ers' scoring record through four games wasn't the only record broken on the day, as wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk also had a career-high 148 receiving yards on the day, continuing a strong 2023 campaign for the former first-round pick.
