49ers' Nick Bosa trolls critics of QB Brock Purdy

San Francisco 49ers pass-rusher Nick Bosa kept receipts regarding comments made about quarterback Brock Purdy before Purdy helped the Niners erase a 24-7 halftime deficit and defeat the Detroit Lions 34-31 in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

"I don’t pay attention to the media much, but whoever’s talking s--- about Brock Purdy, what do you have now?" Bosa told Josina Anderson of CBS Sports shortly after Sunday's victory.

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback and one-time regular-season Most Valuable Player Cam Newton was among noteworthy members of the NFL community who labeled Purdy a "game manager" even as the 24-year-old spent much of the fall as an MVP candidate. Ahead of the divisional round of the playoffs, former NFL executive and current analyst Amy Trask raised eyebrows when she remarked that there were "seven terrific quarterbacks and Brock Purdy" remaining in the postseason tournament at that time.

In the divisional matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Purdy completed six of seven passes for 47 yards during what became a game-winning drive. According to NBC Sports' Peter King, the second-year pro then connected on 13-of-16 pass attempts for 174 yards and a touchdown to go along with the 49 rushing yards he tallied on four carries in the second half of the win over the Lions that sent the 49ers to a Super Bowl LVIII clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.

"He’s the best game manager in the league," a defiant Bosa added about Purdy during his chat with Anderson.

As of Monday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook listed Purdy as second among the betting favorites (behind only Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes at +120 odds) at +225 odds to claim Super Bowl MVP honors. That same outlet had the 49ers as one-point favorites over the Chiefs, but Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk mentioned on Monday morning that San Francisco initially opened as a 2.5-point favorite.
