Wisconsin star Johnny Davis is headed to the Nation’s Capital. With the 10th pick in the NBA draft, the Washington Wizards selected the former La Crosse standout Davis. Davis burst on to the national scene last year with some impressive scoring outputs. He carried a supposedly “undermanned” Badger team to a share of the Big Ten championship.
Last season, Davis averaged 19.7 points, eight rebounds and two assists per game. He really stepped up when the lights were bright, as he averaged 24 points per game against Top 25 opponents. Going from role player to in the conversation of National Player of the Year, earned Davis a lottery pick projection for this draft.

It was almost a no-brainer that if Davis were available at No. 10 he would be taken. In an article earlier this month, I talked about Davis' workout with the Wizards. This can be a great fit, with the young movement going through that organization. With the possibility of not having Bradley Beal, Davis could fill in at that starting shooting guard role. If Beal stays, a backcourt consisting of him and Davis would be so much fun to watch.
Davis is a great representation of Wisconsin basketball, as he proved that a homegrown player can stay with the Badgers and still achieve his NBA dreams.
