With the Spurs’ defense giving a hot chase, Wiggins lost the contested layup during the fast break. He could have passed the ball to teammate Podziemski and maybe the Dubs might have increased their lead. He didn’t; instead, he missed and the rookie took offense and reacted, leading to a brief exchange of words. Wiggins was overheard saying:

Podziemski is known for his boldness and confidence as he once called out veteran guard, Draymond Green. That time, the guard took it well, but it doesn’t always end positively as it did this time around with Wiggins. However, the rookie had the right to call for the ball as he was well-placed to score.

Wiggins ended the game with 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while Podziemski had 14 points, eight rebounds, and four assists to help the Dubs to victory.

Warriors defeat Spurs in Victor Wembanyama’s return

The Golden State Warriors ruined Victor Wembanyama’s return after he had been ruled out with an ankle injury, in a return game with a decisive win at the turf of the Spurs. The Dubs’ win ensured that they avenged their earlier loss to the Spurs last time out.

Jonathan Kuminga led for the Dubs, in the absence of the injured Steph Curry (ankle injury), with 22 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Rookie sensation, Wemby had a double-double of 27 points, 14 rebounds, and, three assists but it just wasn’t enough to see the Spurs through.

The win keeps the Warriors in 10th in the Western Conference standings with a record of 34-30. Next is a tough away game to face the Dallas Mavericks.
