Watch: Bam Adebayo, who won the gold at Tokyo 2020, becomes the first player to receive his jersey from Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 Paris Olympics are approaching, and the USA basketball team has unveiled its official roster. Bam Adebayo was the first player to receive his national team jersey. Adebayo was also part of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics team, which secured its fourth consecutive Olympic gold.

This year’s roster features some of the greatest basketball players in history. Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and recently added Kawhi Leonard have all teamed up to bring the title of world champions back home.

Last year, Team USA was eliminated in the Semi-Finals of the FIBA World Cup. Not only that, but the squad also fell to Canada in the bronze medal game. While the NBA playoffs are less than a week away, the selected players are to receive their jerseys and Bam was the first one.

The color combination of the jersey, as usual, includes navy blue and red. Adebayo received his jersey in the middle of the Miami Heat workout who are to face the Sixers in the Play-In tournament. Adebayo and company have a chance to make the playoffs, coming off a tough loss in the Finals last year.

Bam Adebayo is all set for his second Olympic gold

Team USA practice will probably kick off as soon as the postseason ends this June. This year’s squad is the best basketball team ever assembled in the modern era. Some may call this the Redeem Team 2.0, as they go on a similar mission that the Kobe Bryant-led Team USA set out to back in 2008. Bam is one of the key centers of the squad alongside Joel Embiid.

The 2020 Olympic basketball team included players like Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Draymond Green, Bam Adebayo, Jayson Tatum, and others. Adebayo played quite well in his first Olympics, as he was a great asset to the team. This time, the squad has a much better and improved version of Bam and can rely on him for efficient rebounding and rim protection.

With a squad such as this assembled, no one would expect anything other than gold. The star point guard, Stephen Curry, will be making his first Olympic appearance, teaming up with players who all have played Olympic basketball at least once. It will be interesting to see how the ‘Redeem Team’ responds to other national teams.
