Warriors Working Out Dion Waiters, Harry Giles, Others

The players who will be attending include Dion Waiters, Tony Snell, Harry Giles, Trey Burke, and former Warriors players Kent Bazemore and Juan Toscano-Anderson.  

Golden State has been busy this offseason after acquiring veteran point guard Chris Paul, in a blockbuster trade that sent Jordan Poole to the Wizards. Moreover, as the Warriors look to fill out the rest of the roster, they are exploring options in free agency to add more veteran additions. 

For now, the Warriors have two vacancies left on their 15-man roster. Reportedly, the team will proceed with multiple rounds of workouts to determine the signings. 

Waiters, 31, has not seen the court since playing in the NBA bubble, where he won a championship ring with the Lakers. The 6-foot-4 guard played in only seven games in the 2019-20 season, averaging 12 points in 23.6 minutes per game. His career average of 13.1 points per game is the most out of all the players who will be attending the workouts.

Snell, 31, who missed last season, played 53 games in 2021-22, averaging a combined 3.5 points in 16 minutes of playing time for the Trail Blazers and Pelicans. The veteran small forward has a career average of 6.1 points per game, while being on six different teams over his nine-year playing career. 

Giles, 25, is the youngest of the workout participants, as he was drafted by the Kings in 2017. The 6-10 forward appeared in 38 games for the Blazers in 2020-21, averaging 2.8 points in 9.2 minutes of playing time.

Burke, 30, who also didn’t play an NBA game last year, was a part of the Mavericks from 2019-22. Notably, his playing time decreased year after year and averaged a career-low 5.1 points and 10.5 minutes in 2021-22. The former Michigan guard has played for five different teams over his nine-year career. Burke’s best season may have been his rookie year with the Jazz, where he averaged 12.8 points, 5.7 assists in 32 minutes of playing time.

Bazemore, 34, played for the Warriors 2020-21, averaging 7.2 points in 19.9 minutes per game. The next season, he appeared in 39 games and averaged 3.4 points in 14.4 minutes for the Lakers. Bazemore played for five different teams over his 10-year career, with his best seasons coming with the Hawks, where he put up 11 points per game.

Toscano-Anderson, 30, entered free agency this summer after playing 52 games last year for the Lakers and Jazz. The Oakland native has averaged 4.3 points in 16.1 minutes per game throughout his four-year career. Notably, the hometown kid was drafted by Golden State and won a ring with the team in 2021-22.
