Warriors Officially Sign Gui Santos for Rest of Season
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Warriors have officially signed forward Gui Santos to a contract for the remainder of the season, per the NBA transactions log.

Santos will be receiving a three-year deal, worth the veteran’s minimum of all three seasons, per Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, only $75,000 of Santos’ new deal is guaranteed.

Also, as relayed by Kendra Andrews of ESPN, Santos is still expected to spend time with the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League. At 6-foot-7, he offers the Warriors “more frontcourt depth but doesn’t add much size to an already small team,” Andrews wrote.

Santos, 21, was selected by the Warriors with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He has been playing for Santa Cruz since, averaging 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds, shooting 50 percent from the field in 26 G League games last season.

He spent the offseason with Team Brazil at the FIBA World Cup.

“Golden State is signing Santos with the second-round pick exception,” wrote Bobby Marks of ESPN. “The Warriors only have the vet minimum but because Santos was drafted in the 2nd round, they are allowed to use the exception.”
