Warriors Coach Interviewed for Raptors Head Coach Job

The most interesting thing so far about this NBA off-season hasn't involved any drama with the players, but rather the coaches. So many teams fired championship-winning coaches, and the amount of movement between teams has been very interesting to watch. The most recent movement involves the Warriors and Raptors.

According to a report from Marc Stein, the Toronto Raptors have interviewed Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson for the vacant head coaching job in Toronto.

Atkinson has been with the Golden State Warriors since 2021 and was a part of the team's championship-winning season. Before joining the Warriors, he was previously an assistant coach with the LA Clippers for one season. The only coaching experience Atkinson has had was with the Brooklyn Nets, but it was for a duration of four years.

The most memorable moment of Atkinson's head-coaching tenure with the Brooklyn Nets was when he led the 2018-19 team to the NBA Playoffs where they lost in the first round to the Philadelphia 76ers in five games. While it may sound like the team didn't go far, they had some of the best chemistry in the NBA, and the culture they created resulted in both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving joining the team. 

During last year's NBA Finals, the Charlotte Hornets offered Kenny Atkinson a head coaching position, which he turned down. It'll be interesting to see if the Warriors can manage to keep Atkinson again.
