Westlake High School wide receiver Travis Smith Jr. cut his recruitment to eight schools earlier this week and will focus on Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Tennessee moving forward. Smith told On3's Chad Simmons that Georgia and Tennessee were the two programs standing out the most to him at this point in his recruitment.
Smith Jr. is the No. 196 prospect in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He hauled in 34 passes for 587 yards and eight touchdowns during his junior season, ending his season in a big way. Georgia recently hosted him for a junior day, and several recruiting insiders made expert predictions for Smith to commit to the Bulldogs.
The Vols secured the commitment of Collierville High School wide receiver Joakim Dodson, the class's first wideout commit. Tennessee likely will take three to four wide receivers in this class, and Smith is on their shortlist of targets. It'll be interesting to see how this recruitment unfolds moving forward.
