The Toronto Raptors will find out at the NBA Draft Lottery on May 11 if they will have 2 or 3 drafts picks in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.

The Raptors have a 45.8 percent chance of keeping its top-6 protected pick and if the ping pong balls go their way, Toronto is slated to pick at No. 6.

However, there’s still a good chance the Raptors miss out on its pick and it falls outside of the top-6. If that’s the case it goes to the San Antonio Spurs part of the Jakob Poeltl trade from last year.

Many mock drafts have the Raptors keep its first-round pick, however in Jonathan Wasserman’s latest one on Bleacher Report he has the Raptors falling to No. 7 which gives the Spurs their pick.

Wasserman has the Raptors making an intriguing selection at No. 19 via the Indiana Pacers bringing in Tyler Smith of G League Ignite. Smith is a 6’11” forward who made 58 threes in 43 games. There are some questions about his defensive upside, however there’s enough talent there for a team who’s looking to add a frontcourt shotmaker and finisher. The Raptors could go with a big here considering there need some frontcout depth.

Next, Wasserman as the Raptors taking Jaylon Tyson from California via the Detroit Pistons. He averaged
19.6 points and 3.5 assists this past season. He’s got nice size at 6’7″ and posses solid ball-handling, while being able to playmake and make tough shotmaking. Wasserman believes Tyson will stand out during NBA combine scrimmages.

The Raptors will have their hands full with this upcoming draft. Whether or not they have the full 3 picks to work with they need to hit on a couple of nice prospects which will help their rebuild.
