Timberwolves president calls Rudy Gobert-Kyle Anderson incident 'embarrassing'

Minnesota Timberwolves president Tim Connelly called the Rudy Gobert-Kyle Anderson incident "embarrassing" on Tuesday, hours ahead of the team's Play-In Tournament game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anderson — who was punched by Gobert during Minnesota's regular season finale on Sunday — also spoke on the matter and said that the issue has been resolved.

Gobert took to Twitter on Sunday night after the altercation, writing that his emotions "got the best" of him, while also issuing an apology to "the fans, the (organisation) and particularly to Kyle."

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year said Anderson is someone that "I truly love and respect as a teammate."

On Monday afternoon, the Timberwolves decided to suspend Gobert for the critical Play-In contest against the Lakers.

If Minnesota defeats Los Angeles, they'll advance to the NBA playoffs as the No. 7 seed to face the No. 2 Memphis Grizzlies in the first round.

If the Timberwolves lose to the Lakers on Tuesday night, they'll host the winner of Wednesday's game between the ninth-seeded New Orleans Pelicans and 10th-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in a do-or-die play-in game on Friday night.
