Timberwolves interested in Dennis Schroder, Kyle Lowry, Tyus Jones
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves have expressed trade interest in Toronto Raptors point guard Dennis Schroder and Charlotte Hornets buyout candidate Kyle Lowry, per Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

They have also been linked to Washington Wizards point guard Tyus Jones, believed to be available ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. Jones hails from Apple Valley outside of Minneapolis.

“The Wolves and Wizards have discussed Jones, league sources said. Washington is believed to be looking for a first-round pick in return for him,” Krawczynski wrote. “If the rebuilding team sticks to that asking price, the Wolves will not be able to match it unless they can construct some multiteam deals that bring a pick from another team.”

Lowry was acquired from the Miami Heat as part of the Terry Rozier deal. Lowry, 37, is averaging 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.1 steals, shooting 43 percent from the field and 39 percent on 3-pointers. He has yet to appear in a game for Charlotte.

Schroder, 30, entered Tuesday night with averages of 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists, shooting 44 percent from the floor and 35 percent on threes.

“Toronto’s Dennis Schroder and Kyle Lowry, who was recently traded from Miami to Charlotte and likely will be moving on via trade or buyout in his NBA trade rumors column. “(Wolves coach Chris Finch) coached Lowry for half of a season in Toronto before he was hired to take over in Minnesota.”
