The Hawks immediately flip three recently acquired players in a trade with Oklahoma City
Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

The Hawks are officially wheeling and dealing, as they say goodbye to three players who have only been on their roster for a few days. TyTy Washington and Usman Garuba were acquired by the Hawks from the Rockets in exchange for 2017 60th overall pick Alpha Kaba. The Hawks also acquired some cash and two second-round picks in that deal. Previously, they had acquired veteran Rudy Gay and a second round pick in a deal in which they sent John Collins to the Utah Jazz. All of those players will now be with the Thunder for the time being.

The Hawks save $4.5 million and pick up veteran point guard Patty Mills, who should fit like a glove in Quin Snyder’s system. However, as Woj pointed out, Mills may not be around for long. He has been flipped a few times this offseason, and if the Hawks get the right offer, I have no doubt they will make a move. Mills has already been traded from the Nets to the Rockets, the Rockets to the Thunder, and now from the Thunder to the Hawks.

However, if Mills does stick, he would be a solid veteran presence in Atlanta. He was a longtime staple in San Antonio and won a title in 2014. He’s an okay defender, but has a solid shot from three. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Hawks held onto Mills, but he could very well be on the move again.
