The Celtics’ Master Plan Is Coming Together
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

A few years ago, Brad Stevens was the head coach of the Boston Celtics.

At that time, the team was obviously getting better but they were far, far from where they wanted to be.

That isn’t the case now: the Celtics are easily the best team in the East and probably the greatest NBA team.

Stevens has moved on to become president of basketball operations for the team and is running things in a much bigger way than he was a few years ago.

The moves that Stevens has made all paid off.

Boston is currently 20-5 and have the most wins in the league.

They are also 9-3 on the road and 9-2 against teams that are .500 and better.

Meanwhile, they are 5-0 for back-to-back games, tied for the most in the NBA.

Plus, they have not one but two players who could legitimately be in contention for MVP.

Stevens In Charge

The long rebuilding process that started when Stevens was hired as the team’s coach has paid off.

The Celtics are the epitome of what a good rebuild looks like, this is exactly what fans were hoping for.

They have the best record and a few of the greatest players but they are still missing one thing: a championship ring.

Boston came close last season, returning to the Finals for the first time in years, but they weren’t able to overtake the Golden State Warriors.

The good news is that the Celtics look even better than they did last season, so there is plenty of reason to assume they can go even further than 2021-22.

Meanwhile, Stevens isn’t done making moves: he initiated some trades during the summer and handled the firestorm around former coach Ime Udoka.

Again, he made the right choice because new coach Joe Mazzulla has been doing terrifically for the team.

Everything continues to go according to plan for the Celtics.
