'That brother is special!' Michael Jordan cosigns Anthony Edwards greatness after iconic playoffs performance
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

Stephen A. Smith recently revealed that he called Chicago Bulls and NBA legend Michael Jordan to get his thoughts on the Minnesota Timberwolves Anthony Edwards following his scintillating performance in the win over the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of their playoff encounter. Smith then shared details of their conversation, where the legend called Edwards “ special.”

Michael Jordan has been reported to be a fan of the 2020 NBA number one draft, and it was no shock that the young guard received the praise he deserved from the six-time NBA champion.

I called the GOAT. Me and Wilbon called him, the GOAT, Michael Jordan. We're like, 'Yo, you seeing this?' Michael Jordan was like, 'That brother is special, no question about it. Stephen A. Smith said:

Anthony Edwards against the Phoenix Suns had an impressive game as he came up with 33 points and nine rebounds, including a viral three-point shot over his idol, Kevin Durant . His performance was the momentum the young T-Wolves squad needed to outwit the star-studded Phoenix Suns team.

Furthermore, Ant-Man has constantly drawn comparisons to His Airness in recent times, and his performance and desire to succeed have made the comparison not far-fetched.

He ended the regular season averaging a career-high 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, enough to position the Timberwolves as the Western Conference’s number three seed.

Draymond Green insists on Kevin Durant to guard Anthony Edwards

After dominating the Suns and beating his idol in their game-one encounter, Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green shared his thoughts on who to stop the “special” Anthony Edwards. He mentioned this while speaking on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show.

What the Phoenix Suns are gonna have to do is they're gonna have to play KD on Anthony Edwards the entire series. That has to be his matchup. Draymond Green said

It was a bold tactical move from the veteran, given that Durant isn’t known for his defensive understanding, but as a 6-foot-11 forward, he has what it takes to ruin the rhythm of the young guard. He also asserted that Devin Booker , Bradley Beal , and Grayson Allen must shoulder the offensive responsibility for that tweak to work.

While it would be a spectacle to see how the move might work, it’s left for the Suns’ coaching team to devise effective ways to stop Ant-Man from causing further damage to their champion aspirations. If that’s the case, then we might see how extra remarkable Anthony Edwards can be with the special attention.
