Suns' Cameron Payne suffers ankle injury in Game 3 against Clippers

The Phoenix Suns could be in trouble if Cameron Payne is unavailable for Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Payne suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's 106-92 Game 3 loss to the Clippers and did not return. He played just four minutes and scored two points before exiting.

The 26-year-old has been a key part of Phoenix's success this postseason, averaging 11.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 43.4% from the field and 34.7% from deep.

Payne even stepped up when Chris Paul was unavailable due to health and safety protocols. He had 29 points, one rebound and nine assists in Game 2 against the Clippers, propelling the Suns to a 104-103 win.

Phoenix leads the series 2-1. With Game 4 set for Saturday night, Suns fans will hope Payne can make a quick recovery.
