Stephen Curry Gets Honest About Warriors’ Future After Loss
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Last night, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors bid farewell to their season, falling short with a 118-94 defeat against the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In Tournament.

As the curtains closed on their campaign, speculation loomed over the Warriors’ trajectory and the future of their cornerstone, Stephen Curry.

With Klay Thompson, Curry’s long-time partner on the court, poised for free agency, the possibility of him departing from the Warriors, his sole professional home, hovers in the air.

In the aftermath of the loss, Curry voiced his sentiment, expressing his difficulty in envisioning a court devoid of Thompson and Draymond Green. Nonetheless, he emphasized that his primary objective remains unwavering: winning, irrespective of the circumstances.

“Obviously, we understand the league has changed and we’re getting deeper into our careers and we have to evolve and make the necessary adjustments to win games. But we put a lot of time into it. I think I worked harder than I ever have at being able to prepare for a season and try to perform at the level that I expect. Those two guys have been through it with me. At the end of the day, I just want to win and I know that’s totally possible. I know this summer’s going to be a lot of conversations and trying to set ourselves up to win. Whatever that means, I hope that’s the outcome.”

Despite the disappointment, Curry showcased his prowess with a commendable 22-point performance in the Warriors’ final game of the season.

At 36 years old, he exhibited resilience throughout the season, participating in 74 of the 82 regular-season fixtures and maintaining an impressive average of 26.4 points per game, affirming his enduring capacity to compete at an elite level.

While the Warriors embark on the journey of roster reconstruction in the forthcoming summer, Stephen Curry will embark on a new chapter, representing Team USA for the first time in the Olympics, an opportunity to further showcase his talent on the global stage.
