A simple way to explain the success of the Sacramento Kings in the 2023-24 NBA season is to simply mention Domantas Sabonis’ name. The Kings are more than just a one-man team, but it can’t be denied that Sabonis is a huge reason why they are in a position to grab one of the six guaranteed playoff spots in the Western Conference.
On Wednesday night, Sabonis stuffed the stat sheets again with another brilliant all-around showing in a 123-89 annihilation of the Toronto Raptors.
When Sabonis isn’t posting a triple-double this season, he is busy putting together a double-double performance. That has been quite the story in the 2023-24 NBA campaign for Sabonis, who had 13 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assets versus the hapless Raptors.

Sabonis this season:
64 double-doubles
24 triple-doubles
The only player to reach those marks in a season in over 50 years.
It is no wonder that Sabonis is averaging close to a triple-double on the season. To date, he is making 20.0 points, grabbing 13.7 rebounds, and dropping 8.3 dimes per game, while shooting 60.9 percent from the field. He doesn’t have a high 3-point attempt rate, but when he does try, he’s making 41.1 percent of them.
“What Domas does for us every single night, it’s impressive,” Kings forward Harrison Barnes said after the win over the Raptors (via ESPN)
“To be able to be a force, go to the glass, facilitate the way he does, score the way he does, draw the attention that defenses put towards him, it’s something that you always have to bring attention to.”
Sabonis and the 123-89 Kings can extend their win streak to three games when they visit the Washington Wizards this Thursday.
