Rockets reportedly seeking a first-round pick for Eric Gordon

While the Houston Rockets have been active on the trade market ahead of free agency and the draft, trading center Christian Wood to the Dallas Mavericks earlier this week, more moves may be on the horizon.

According to several reports, the Rockets are looking to trade veteran guard Eric Gordon.

Marc Stein's latest Substack post includes a note about the Rockets' interest in dealing Gordon and what they could be seeking in return. According to Stein, the Rockets have been trying to trade the 14-year veteran, adding they hope to get a first-round pick in return for Gordon.

Hoopshype.com's Michael Scotto reports that the Rockets have sought a first-round pick in exchange for Gordon since the trade deadline.

According to Scotto, "multiple executives" at the trade deadline said the Rockets were planning to hold onto Gordon if they could not get a first-rounder "near the late teens or early 20s in return."

Gordon has two years remaining on a four-year, $75.5M contract. He'll make $19.5M in 2022-23, with a non-guaranteed $20.9M year in 2023-24.

This season, his sixth with the Rockets, Gordon played in 57 regular-season games, starting 46.

Gordon averaged 13.4 PPG, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists playing 29.3 minutes per game.
