Rockets Officially Sign Bullock
USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets announced Wednesday evening the signing of free agent forward Reggie Bullock. He will join the Rockets after being waived by the San Antonio Spurs two days before the start of training camp

By adding Bullock, the Rockets will have a reliable 3-and-D player coach Ime Udoka can employ throughout the 2023-24 campaign.

As an additional defensive wing following the signing of Bullock, the Rockets also have Dillon Brooks, Tari Eason and Jabari Smith Jr. to help enhance Houston's subpar defense.

"It raises the [defensive] level of the group," Udoka said. "We struggled in a lot of areas defensively. So, for us to add those pieces, it's definitely huge. Some guys have that natural mentality. We have the players. Certain guys don't have that mentality, but we will get them up to speed."

Bullock spent the past two seasons as a member of the Dallas Mavericks before landing with the Spurs in July. He appeared in 146 games and averaged 7.8 points while shooting 37.0 percent from behind the arc and 3.6 rebounds.

His best season came during the 2021-22 campaign, where Bullock helped the Mavericks reach the Western Conference Finals. He averaged 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds on 39.7 percent shooting during the Mavericks' five-game defeat to the Golden State Warriors.

Bullock was originally the 25th overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2013 NBA Draft. In 512 career games with 294 starts, he has averaged 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 38.4 percent from 3-point range.

Over the past six seasons, Bullock averaged 2.1 triples made. He was one of 12 players with 350-plus games played over the span to have averaged at least an average of 2.0 3-point field goals made while shooting 38.0 percent or better.
