Report: Wizards turned down Wolves’ offer for Tyus Jones

The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly made an offer for Tyus Jones that the Washington Wizards rejected. 

That's the word from NBA insider Matt Moore, who wrote Saturday that Washington is holding firm on their price for Jones, which he believes to be a first-round pick. Moore originally reported that the Wolves offered four second-round picks for Jones but he's since said that wasn't accurate. 

"A source close to the situation says the Wolves did not offer four seconds, but did make an offer for Jones," Moore wrote. 

Minnesota cannot trade its 2024 first-round pick unless it is a pick swap. 

Jones is a Minnesota native. He starred at Apple Valley High School before leading Duke to a national championship as a true freshman in 2015. The Cavaliers drafted him 24th overall that summer and traded his draft rights to the Timberwolves, where he played until 2019. 

On Friday, Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reported that Minnesota has eyes on three point guards on the trade market: Monte Morris of the Pistons, Jones and Clippers backup Bones Hyland. 

Jones, 27, is averaging 12.3 points per game and 6.3 assists per game for Washington.
