Report: Warriors Looking To Trade Andrew Wiggins, Mavericks Very Interested
Petre Thomas-USA TODAY Sports

According to NBA insider Matt Moore of Action Network, the Dallas Mavericks are interested in acquiring Andrew Wiggins from the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors are looking to trade Wiggins, who is averaging a career-low 12.2 points this season.

“The other player the Warriors are looking to move is Andrew Wiggins, whose plus-minus splits this season are essentially a horror show,” Moore wrote in his NBA column. “The team with the most interest in Wiggins over the last two weeks, according to sources, is the Dallas Mavericks. Details of talks aren’t known. Wiggins would provide Dallas with a more stable small forward option who can also play power forward, as free agency acquisition Grant Williams has been disappointing.”

Wiggins, 28, is averaging 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.5 blocks this season while shooting 43.7% from the field, 31.1% from beyond the arc and 71.7% from the free-throw line. He has a plus-minus of -143.

The Warriors signed Wiggins to a four-year, $109 million extension in October 2022 after winning the 2022 NBA championship over the Boston Celtics. Wiggins is making $24.3 million this season. He’ll make $26.3 million in 2024-25.

According to NBA insider Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors don’t have to attach a draft pick to trade Wiggins. Golden State has fielded player-for-player trade offers for Wiggins.

“Wiggins profiles as the most likely Warrior to be dealt,” Slater wrote in his NBA article. “He’s on the first season of a four-year, $109 million extension. The Warriors have fielded player-for-player offers for Wiggins, according to team and league sources. They wouldn’t have to attach a draft pick to get off his deal.”

Wiggins holds career averages of 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Warriors. The Dubs are only 21-25 this season. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings.
