At times, it felt like the New York Knicks would never find someone to fill their vacant head coaching position. However, that has since changed and one candidate now is reportedly a front-runner for the gig.
According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Jason Kidd has emerged as a favorite for the job after contract negotiations with Tom Thibodeau halted.
The Knicks reportedly view Kidd "as a conduit" to attracting big-name free agents, but some within the organization have questioned his coaching ability.
Mike Woodson, who is on the Knicks head coaching list, could potentially become a member of Kidd's staff, provided the latter lands the job.
Kidd does know a thing or two about winning, and could potentially be a great fit with a young New York team. The 47-year-old is a Hall of Famer, 10-time All-Star, NBA champion and was the 1994-95 Rookie of the Year.
The Knicks missed the playoffs for the seventh straight season after going 21-45 during the 2019-20 campaign.
