Raptors’ Jontay Porter Reportedly Bet ‘Millions’ Over Two-Year Span
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Jontay Porter’s gambling situation does not look good.

Porter allegedly owned and operated a FanDuel VIP account that wagered millions of dollars in total between 2021 and 2023, according to a report from the Action Network.

None of those bets were on the NBA or college basketball during those years, per Action Network.

Porter stopped betting on his FanDuel account a few weeks before he signed a two-way contract with the Raptors, per Action Network.

He is currently under investigation by the NBA following suspicious betting activity on prop bets related to him, ESPN reported.

There were two games this season on Jan. 26 against the Los Angeles Clippers and March 20 against the Phoenix Suns where sportsbooks noticed many bets placed on the 24-year-old to go under his statistical totals. In both instances, Porter left the game early and the unders on him successfully cashed in.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver weighed in on Porter’s accusation via USA Today:

“It’s cardinal sin what he’s accused of in the NBA and the ultimate extreme option I have is to ban him from the game. That’s the level of authority I have here because there’s nothing more serious around this league when it comes to gambling and betting on our games – and that is a direct player involvement. And so the investigation is ongoing, but the consequences could be very severe.”

Porter averaged 4.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 25 contests with Toronto.

The center has been on a two-way deal and has no current contract with the Raptors. He is listed as a restricted free agent this summer.

Michael Porter Jr. comments on Jontay Porter’s gambling investigation

Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets talked about his younger brother’s gambling investigation and was doubtful that he committed such an act.

The investigation is the NBA’s first serious gambling-related controversy since sports betting became legalized in most parts of North America.
