Pistons Sign Kevin Knox
Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Swingman Kevin Knox is headed back to the Detroit Pistons. According to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Knox is signing a one-year deal with the Pistons.

The 24-year-old Knox played 42 games for the Pistons last season before getting traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Knox has played for the New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Pistons and Blazers. He has career averages of 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.3 blocks while shooting 38.5% from the field, 34.2% from beyond the arc and 71.3% from the free-throw line.

The Knicks drafted Knox with the ninth overall pick in the 2018 draft out of Kentucky. Knox averaged 12.8 points during his rookie season with the Knicks, but the forward hasn’t averaged double-figures since then. Knox played in 195 games with New York.

The Knicks traded Knox to the Hawks in January 2022. Knox appeared in just 17 games with Atlanta. He signed with the Pistons in the summer of 2022 but was traded to the Blazers in February 2023.

It will be interesting to see how Knox plays in his second stint with the Pistons. Detroit is still in rebuild mode, so Knox will have a good opportunity to showcase his skills.

The Pistons have started this season 2-6. Knox, who averaged 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks in 63 games with the Pistons and Blazers last season, will come off the bench with Detroit.
