Pickup game with Curry fuels Lin NBA return buzz
Jeremy Lin Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Jeremy Lin recently took part in a pickup game with Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, and simply taking part in the on-court action has increased the speculation that “Linsanity” could be back in the NBA next season following a one-year hiatus.

Images shared on social media by Jordan Jimenez show Lin playing some pickup ball alongside Curry and fellow Warriors players Eric Paschall, Kevon Looney, Marquese Chriss and Alen Smailagic.

Lin took to Instagram as well to share some video from the recent workout session. The former NBA star also laid out three goals he has set ahead of his hoped-for return to the league.

After splitting the 2018-19 season between stints with the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors, the 10-year NBA veteran signed with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association for a reported $3 million per year. Lin earned All-Star honors in his first season abroad, averaging 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

Following his one-season sojourn overseas, Lin expressed hope of returning to the NBA for the 2020-21 campaign this past September.

“This decision has really been the hardest in my life,” Lin said. “Every morning I would wake up at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m., thinking, thinking and thinking all the time. In the end, although Shougang [the Ducks] have treated me incredibly well … giving me everything I wanted, in the end, I feel that I still have NBA dreams. I still have time to play [there] and I have to chase this.”

Lin is expected to attract some interest from NBA teams, and the veteran guard will likely soon know his fate as the league and the NBPA recently agreed to open training camps on Dec. 1 with the season opening less than three weeks later.

That said, free agency opens Nov. 20, with the moratorium period lifted on Nov. 22, so Lin still has to play the waiting game at this point.
