Pelicans' Brandon Ingram out 6-8 weeks after finger surgery

On Friday, the New Orleans Pelicans announced that forward Brandon Ingram had successful surgery to repair a flexion contracture in his right pinkie.

The recovery time estimated for Ingram's injury is six to eight weeks.

While it isn't clear when Ingram suffered the injury, WLL Radio's Jeff Novak connected the dots, mentioning Ingram had surgery on the same finger he jammed in a Game 5 loss to the Phoenix Suns in the opening round of the playoffs. In that game, Ingram led the Pelicans with 22 points and added five rebounds, five assists and a steal.

In his third season with the Pelicans, Ingram averaged 22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 55 games.

After a solid regular season, Ingram continued to impress in the postseason for the Pelicans.

In his first career playoff appearance, Ingram averaged 27.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists playing all six first-round games for New Orleans.
