Normal Powell (shoulder subluxation) could miss real time
Norman Powell Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Clippers are missing several rotation regulars -- including Kawhi Leonard, Marcus Morris and Ivica Zubac -- for their game on Friday in Sacramento. Count Norman Powell among the walking wounded as well.

Powell was ruled out for the contest with a left shoulder subluxation, the same kind of injury which cost Stephen Curry just under four weeks (11 total games) earlier this season. Curry's injury very much healed up on the same timeline that is considered "normal" for this kind of concern.

The Clippers have stated that Powell will undergo treatment and therapy for at least the next week, after which the team should have a clearer sense of when he’ll be able to return to hardwood.

One perhaps unexpected positive to draw from Powell's otherwise drab prognosis is that it could allow Clippers HC Tyronn Lue an opportunity to simplify some rotation decisions. Lue and staff are still determining how best to use the Clippers’ new-look roster after the team added Eric Gordon, Mason Plumlee, Bones Hyland, and Russell Westbrook prior to the trade deadline.
