New York Knicks: Tom Thibodeau Takes Subtle Shot at Joel Embiid After Game 3 vs 76ers
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks are not happy not just with the result of Game 3 of their first-round series versus the Philadelphia 76ers , but also with how they feel Sixers star big man Joel Embiid got away with his dangerous actions in the contest.

Embiid was called for a flagrant-1 foul when he was caught grabbing the leg of Knicks center Mitchell Robinson in the first half but appeared to have evaded the same type of call on at least one occasion when he did this to New York’s Isaiah Hartenstein:

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau was asked after the game, which was won by Philly, 125-114,  about Embiid’s foul on Robinson and he replied with something that can be interpreted as a callout to both the refs and the 2023-24 NBA Most Valuable Player.

Via Ian Begley of SNY:

Asked Tom Thibodeau about Joel Embiid’s Flagrant 1. “Which one? The one they called or the one they didn’t call?” He was referencing when Embiid hit Isaiah Hartenstein in the groin.

The New York Knicks Need to Get Control of the Series Again

After failing to bury the 76ers in a 3-0 series hole, there is significant pressure now on the Knicks to win Game 4. The 76ers now have the momentum and another win by Philly in Game 4 this coming Sunday would not just tie the series up at 2-2, but add even more stress to New York going into Game 5 back at home.
