Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

There’s no denying that the New York Knicks landed a win when they acquired Jalen Brunson in 2022. What’s even more impressive is that in a couple of years, the All-Star point guard has found himself within the company of the franchise’s legends, like Carmelo Anthony and Patrick Ewing.

Just recently, the Knicks got away with the close 98-91 win over the Kings at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Brunson unleashed himself by putting up 42 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Donte DiVincenzo was New York’s second-leading scorer with 15 points to go along with his two rebounds and two assists.

Domantas Sabonis led the Kings with a double-double of 21 points, 14 rebounds, and two assists. De’Aaron Fox added 20 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists. while Malik Monk contributed 18 points from the bench.

In the end, the Knicks retained the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with 38 wins and 27 losses. The Kings, on the other hand, is in seventh place in the West with a record of 37-27.

Jalen Brunson Goes Off Carmelo Anthony-Style In New York Knicks’ Win Over Sacramento Kings

Brunson’s heroics against the Kings have earned him a place in franchise history by being the fourth player to score 40 or more points in back-to-back games. After the match, the All-Star guard shared his thoughts about the said achievement in a video shared by Knicks on MSG on X:

Thanks to his recent performance against the Kings, the Knicks’ All-Star has joined the company of New York greats, such as Carmelo Anthony, Patrick Ewing, and Bernard King. It also helped that the point guard is averaging 27.5 points on 47 percent shooting from the field, 40 percent from three, and 84 percent from the free throw line this season.

With Brunson taking the leap after moving from the Dallas Mavericks, there’ll be more records to break during his time in New York. If he does, his legend as a Knick will only grow from here.
