Dion Waiters was the fourth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Syracuse by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 31-year-old most recently played in the league during the 2019-20 season when he appeared in ten games for the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.
Both teams made the NBA Finals, and Waiters was with the Lakers, who won the title.
Despite being out of the NBA for the previous three seasons, he is reportedly trying to make a comeback.
On Saturday, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and the NBA on TNT reported that Waiters is working out for NBA teams on Monday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Via Haynes: "Former first-round picks Dion Waiters and Harry Giles III will hold private workouts separately for NBA teams on Monday in Las Vegas, their agent Daniel Hazan of @hazansportsmgmt tells @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport."
Waiters has played eight seasons in the NBA for the Heat, Lakers, Cavs and Oklahoma City Thunder.
His career averages are 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while shooting 41.2% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point range in 419 regular season games (he has also appeared in 23 NBA Playoff games).
While he was never an All-Star, Waiters was a very talented guard capable of getting extremely hot on any given night.
In 2017, he signed a $52 million contract with the Heat.
A contending team looking for depth on the end of their bench could be a good place for Waiters to land next season.
