Mavs Trade or Keep Bullock? How's His D Valued?
USA TODAY Sports

After a rather disappointing season, the Dallas Mavericks face a summer of franchise-altering decisions in hopes of bouncing back from a playoff-less season. As Dallas attempts to build a contending team around Luka Doncic, a checklist of offseason decisions includes the future of Mavericks wing Reggie Bullock.

This season, though the role and per game statistics of Bullock remained virtually the same as a 3-and-D wing, his impact wasn't felt nearly as much. In 78 games, starting 55 of those, Bullock averaged 7.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists on 38 percent shooting from 3-point range. But, with the departure of Dorian Finney-Smith, Bullock's importance and responsibilities on the defensive end increased, which lessened his impact.

Contractually, Bullock has one-year, $10.4 million left on his deal, which is only partially guaranteed. In his end-of-season interview, Mavs GM Nico Harrison harped on the importance of upgrading Dallas' defense this offseason. And this is a team featuring Luka Doncic (and maybe Kyrie Irving) ... meaning that somebody around here has to play defense.

Though Bullock is arguably one of Dallas' top three defenders at the moment, could he be involved in a trade for an upgrade?

Bullock's deal is rather trade-friendly and could help benefit both a contending team as a role player or a young team who needs some veteran leadership. No one outside of Doncic is untouchable so don't be surprised if Bullock could be involved in a transaction at some point this summer in a deal that enhances the Mavericks roster.
